True wellness is defined as a balance of physical and mental health, yet in today's fast-paced world, mental health can sometimes be overlooked. So, here are some strategies to practice self-care:

Here are a few practical strategies for relieving stress at the end of the day:

1. GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Good sleep helps your body and mind feel rested. Put sleep in your self-care habit checklist to begin each day on a positive note. Establishing healthy sleep practices will help you to relax before bed and increase your sleep quality.

2. EAT HEALTHY MEALS

Healthy eating habits can make you feel more focused, energized, and relaxed. Eat plenty of fruits, veggies, and whole grains as it will provide you energy and makes you feel great. Mindful eating can help you stay aware of what you're eating, allowing you to make healthier choices that benefit your physical and mental health.

3. EXERCISE REGULARLY

Try to move your body at least once every day. You can stroll, dance, or practice yoga. Exercise keeps you fit and relieves stress. Exercising in ways you enjoy can make working out more enjoyable from the start, rather than a chore. Regular physical activity lowers stress and anxiety, increases cognitive function, and enhances mood.

4. STAY HYDRATED

Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps your body function properly and keeps your skin healthy and gives you energy. You can keep a water bottle with you to remind yourself to drink throughout the day. If you find plain water boring, try adding slices of lemon, cucumber, or mint to make it more refreshing.

5. SPEND TIME WITH LOVED ONES

Connecting with family and friends is critical to your emotional well-being. Make time to talk, laugh, and share stories with those you care about. A simple phone conversation or video chat can make a significant difference, especially if you are unable to meet in person. Sharing your ideas and feelings with your loved ones might make you feel more supported and understood.

6. DO THINGS YOU ENJOY

Make time for hobbies and activities that you enjoy. Taking time to do things you enjoy is an important element of self-care. There is no limit to the activities that fall within this category; you can do whatever you want! Adding creativity to your daily routine can boost brain function, physical health, and mental wellness. Engaging in activities you enjoy can be refreshing and help you recharge before taking on important responsibilities in your life.

7. TAKE BREAKS

It's important to take brief breaks throughout the day, especially if you're working or studying for a long time. Taking pauses helps you avoid burnout and keeps your thinking fresh. Even a 5- to 10-minute break can make a significant effect. You can listen to your favorite music, glance out the window, or eat a nutritious snack. Breaks allow you to refuel and increase your focus and productivity when you return to your tasks. If you're feeling overwhelmed or worried, pausing for a few minutes can help you feel more in control.

8. PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

Spend a few minutes each day practicing mindfulness. You can practice meditation, deep breathing, or simply sitting silently. This helps you remain calm and present. Mindfulness activities can be done anywhere; however, many people prefer to practice in a calm environment with their eyes open or closed. Mindfulness may also help with pain management, weight control, and blood pressure management. If you struggle to take your thoughts off that never-ending "to-do" list, mindfulness can be a gratifying task.
